About Peter

Peter Hall gained an Australian advanced amateur licence in the late 1970’s, operating as VK7PH. He holds degrees in electronics engineering and physics, and a PhD in radio astronomy from the University of Tasmania for pulsar instrumentation development and interstellar propagation studies. Among his professional roles Peter was the inaugural International Project Engineer for the world’s largest radio telescope, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) now being built in Western Australia and South Africa. He was later foundation Professor of Radio Astronomy Engineering at Curtin University in Perth, and Director (Engineering) of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR). Now operating as VK6HP, he enjoys using amateur radio in teaching and learning activities associated with his current Emeritus Professor status at Curtin. Peter is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (Australia), and a member of the Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA) and the ARRL.
